AND THE WINNER IS…

May 3rd, 2011 by melissa g

Last night, at a beautiful gala in New York City, the winners of the 4th annual Children’s Choice Book Awards were announced. Apparently, the 500,000 votes received this year are more than all three previous years combined.  It makes us happy to hear that the enthusiasm for children’s books is alive and well…and growing!

We (the two Melissas) were thrilled to be in New York to see the winners graciously accept their awards.  The evening was mc’d by the very funny author of Lunch Lady, Jarrett Krosoczka,

Jarrett Krosoczka

and even included an appearance by Snookie…or was it Jon Scieszka??

The big night culminated with a special singing performance by Reading Rainbow host, LeVar Burton and Jarrett Krosoczka.

Snookie???

The great LeVar Burton

For a little trip down memory lane, here are the lyrics to the Reading Rainbow song.

Sing along…

Butterfly in the sky
I can go twice as high
Take a look
It’s in a book
A Reading Rainbow

I can go anywhere
Friends to know
And ways to grow
A Reading Rainbow

I can be anything
Take a look
It’s in a book
A Reading Rainbow
A Reading Rainbow

So, you’re probably asking, who were the big WINNERS this year?
