The Last Bookshop

April 16th, 2013 by melissa g

Can you imagine a world without books? Is that the direction we’re heading? I seriously hope not, but this touching video by The Bakery explores that very concept. As they say on their blog, “We hope you enjoy stepping into this make-believe world where books have been forgotten. And hopefully share in our musings that bookshops are fantastic and storytelling will never dieā€¦” This peek into the future is haunting, but it does leave me with a sense of hope!

Watch the video (it is worth the 20 minutes!) and let us know what you think in the comments below.

Congratulations~ this is such an excellent and absolutely endearing little movie that it demands the widest dissemination (I discovered it on the Independent Booksellers Network group on LinkedIn).

My only niggle is that I would have rejuvenated the bookseller in the course of his conversation with the boy. Or would that be a) inappropriate to the storyline b) too surrealistic?
